Following thorough site assessments, on-site visits, a myriad of tests, and engaging consultations, for this steep valley property, United Designers International was commissioned by the Nardini family to design distinct zones for forested, cultivated, and rewilded areas.
The primary aim is to showcase and inspire Agroforestry practices and regenerative Viticulture, including soil enhancement, water management, and raising biodiversity, with ample space and refuge for the surrounding wildlife. The project also emphasizes sustainable food production, and climate adaptation while providing an inviting space for visitors and events.
Our plant species choices have taken the site’s slightly basic sandy-loam soils, and the heavily sloped areas, into consideration. Successfully developing an aesthetically pleasing design, encompassing two food forest systems and areas dedicated to supporting biodiversity. It's important to remember that as these systems mature, soil conditions are likely to evolve, potentially allowing for a more varied planting scheme in the future.
This adaptability in our designs not only caters to the current situations but also embraces the dynamic nature of ecological development, promising enhanced diversity and sustainability as the ecosystems progress.
